The Delta COVID-19 variant, which was first identified in India, has now been detected in 124 countries, 13 more than last week, the WHO said.

The WHO added that Delta variant is expected become “the dominant circulating lineage over the coming months”. The variant now accounts for over 75% of COVID-19 cases in several countries, including India, according to WHO.
