After a scoundrel robot malfunctioned, a factory worker was pierced with ten enormous steel spikes and the robot skewered the man.
The incident took place in China last Tuesday.
The worker, however, managed to survive after the arm of the restless robot suddenly collapsed onto him, dropping the spikes into his arm and chest.
The spikes were a part of the robot.
Through emergency surgery, the surgeons removed the spikes from the 49-year-old Zhou.
According to the Chinese hospital which treated the worker, one of the robot’s spikes was just 0.04 inches (0.1 cm) from a major artery.
Each of the sharp steel bars measured one foot (30cm) in length and 0.59 inches (1.5cm) in diameter.
As per the Xiangya Hospital in Changsha, the factory worker is in stable condition.
The victim was working a night shift for a porcelain factory in Zhuzhou in Hunan province in Southern China.
According to reports, four of the steel spikes were stuck in his right forearm, four in his right arm, one in his chest and one in his right shoulder.
Before transferring the wounded man to the Xiangya Hospital in Changsha, he was first taken to a local hospital by his colleagues.
The lead surgeon for the patient, Dr. Wu Panfeng, said that since the spikes were long and made of metal, the patient could not be given an X-ray scan.
“The man was in critical condition as the spike in his chest could damage the nerves and the main blood vessel on the right side of his body, causing a haemorrhage,” added the doctor.
