Google has officially announced that it is pulling down its smart messaging app, Allo.
The smart messaging app, Allo used machine learning to propose smart replies for a shorter reply time.
Earlier this year in April, the company paused investment in Allo.
The company confirmed that “it has decided to discontinue support for Allo.”
Google introduced some of its key features into messages, involving smart reply, desktop support, and gifs.
Allo will carry on working throughout March 2019 and until then the users will be competent to export all of their existing chat histories from the app.
When Allo launched Danny Sullivan (now at Google as Search Liaison) in 2016 expressed cynicism about the chances of Allo due to some awkward functionality.
In April, the then group communications’ head at Google, Anil Sabharwal said, “Allo as a whole has not reached the level of popularity that we had hoped.”
