Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) questioned Election Commission on the difficulties being faced by the government employees of Punjab in their right to voting. In a statement issued from the party headquarters on Saturday, senior AAP leader and Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Harpal Singh Cheema said that March 9 is the last day for voting of government employees who were on election duty, but the Election Commission has not provided sufficient number of ballot papers to government employees to cast their votes.

Harpal Cheema said that this attitude of the Election Commission is very disappointing and unfortunate. It seems as if the Election Commission is working at the behest of the ruling parties at the Center and in the state. The ruling party fears that government employees will vote against it because for the past several years thousands of employees of all departments have been protesting against the Congress government over their demands. AAP MLA Aman Arora released a video and said that the government employees worked day and night and helped in the voting of 2.5 crore voters of Punjab, but it is very unfortunate that the ballot paper is not available at the time of their voting.
