Peel Regional Police have charged a *25-year-old Mississauga man* following an investigation into the alleged sale of fraudulent automobile insurance policies across the Greater Toronto Area.
Police allege that between *April 2024 and August 2026, Muhammad Raahim sold fraudulent auto insurance policies and provided customers with falsified proof-of-insurance documents that appeared legitimate. Investigators have so far identified **15 incidents, with reported losses to victims exceeding *$10,000**.
According to police, the accused had previously been licensed to sell insurance and had worked for several insurance brokerages. Investigators allege he continued selling policies after he no longer had the legal authority or licence to do so.
Raahim was arrested on *August 26* and charged with *Defraud the Public*. He was released subject to conditions and is awaiting a future court appearance. The allegations have not been proven in court.
Peel Police believe there could be additional victims and are asking anyone who purchased automobile insurance through the accused to contact investigators. Police also advise consumers to verify that brokers and agents are properly licensed and to confirm coverage directly with the insurer when in doubt.
