United States | September 13, 2026: Members of the Sikh Temple of Spokane in Washington state collectively donated US$30,000 to assist families and communities recovering from the region’s recent wildfires.
The congregation presented the combined contribution to the Innovia Foundation’s Spokane Complex Wildfire Response Fund during an event at the temple. Innovia Foundation CEO Shelly O’Quinn accepted the donation, while US Representative Michael Baumgartner also attended.
Temple members selected the fund because it distributes assistance through organizations directly involved in local recovery work. Community representatives said the contribution reflected the Sikh principle of seva—selfless service without discrimination based on religion or background.
The Spokane congregation has previously supported food charities and relief work outside Washington, including assistance connected with flooding in Nepal. Its latest initiative demonstrates how Sikh institutions are contributing to emergency response and community rebuilding across the United States.
