Chandigarh: With the motive to enhance green cover in Punjab, the Environment Department has initiated a special plantation campaign for all the industrial units of the state.
The Environment Minister Mr. Om Parkash Soni has started this campaign by planting saplings in Kejriwal Honey Bee Processing Unit Banur and Pagro Frozen Foods Private Limited, Sadhugarh (Fatehgarh Sahib). He said that to save the environment from pollution and global warming, it is our prime duty to plant more and more saplings. He said that green cover is must for every industrial unit in the state. During his visit, Mr. Soni thoroughly examined the entire process of disposing of residual waste by industrial units and the functioning of Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs). Expressing satisfaction, he said that these units are contributing to strengthening the economy of the farmers, besides making important contribution in pollution free environment.
Environment Minister said that the Captain Amarinder Singh Government is committed to further encourage industrialization in the state and to protect the environment for the sake of our generations. He said that the Environment Department and the officials of the Punjab Pollution Control Board have been strictly instructed to work more rapidly to save the environment and have been asked to initiate the plantation drive in every industrial units of the state.
