Chandigarh:Targeting Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for making false promises before elections and betraying the people of Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state president and MP Bhagwant Mann on Saturday appealed the people to think about the failed promises made by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, before casting their votes on February 14 for the municipal bodies’ elections. In a statement issued from the party headquarters, Mann said that Captain Amarinder Singh, who formed the government by making false promises to the people before elections, proved to be a failure on every front. He said that Captain Amarinder had failed in governing the state, thus causing the people great inconvenience.

Mann said that Captain Amarinder had made big promises including waiving all the debts of the farmers, Ghar-Ghar rozgar to the youth, eradicating drugs in four weeks, to the people of Punjab, by holding Sri Gutka Sahib before the 2017 elections and raised hope in them that Punjab, devastated in the hands of Badals, would be made prosperous again. However, four years had passed, but Captain did not fulfil a single promise, he said. He added that Captain Amarinder had lied to the people; did not meet them even once in the last four years and was just sitting at his posh farmhouse, ruining this prosperous state. “Power-drunk, Captain forgot his people and reneged on all his promises. People will give a befitting reply to the Congress for making false promises and betraying them,” he added.

He said that the people were now well aware of Captain Amarinder Singh and his government’s misleading tactics and would not fall for their ploys. He said that under the rule of Captain Amarinder, the people of Punjab had suffered even further. Mann said that the people of Punjab were facing corruption on a daily basis in their life, had not been rid of the ‘mafia raj’ and lives in a state with a pathetic law and order situation; which had led to great inconvenience for them. “When the people of Punjab will go to the polling booths to exercise their democratic rights on February 14, I appeal to them to remember the failed promises made by Captain in mind. I ask them to remember the misery they had to face because of the mis-governance brought about by Captain Amarinder in the last four years,” he added.

He further said that the response that AAP was getting over the past few days had been massive. Mann said that the party leaders saw the entire city coming out to participate with AAP candidates in their rallies. “Groundswell of support for AAP shows that the party has the people’s mandate and would see a big win in the MC polls. This massive response proves that the people of Punjab now want change. The people want to get rid of these grand old parties that have ruined the state and want to give someone else a chance,” he added.

Mann said that Captain Amarinder Singh-led government had been misusing the powers of the state machinery to exploit the people, thus violating the democratic values; but tomorrow, the people of Punjab would use their power of vote and kick these corrupt parties out and choose change over corruption, negligence and misgovernance. In regard with the blatant hooliganism committed by the Congress goons recently during the elections process, Mann appealed to the State Election Commission to ensure free and fair conduct of elections and empowering people to practice their democratic rights.
