Chandigarh – Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the lower court to adjourn the defamation case against bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut beyond September 8. It is pertinent to mention that the actress Kangana Ranaut had written a post on Twitter account commenting on ‘Shaheen Bagh Dadi’
A defamation suit against Kangana is pending before the trial court in Bathinda. The actress had come to Bathinda court for hearing in the month of February. Justice Meenakshi Mehta has issued notice on Kangana’s plea challenging the case filed by Mahinder Kaur.
The High court said in the order “Meanwhile the trial court shall adjourn the criminal complaint case , as pending before it , beyond the next date of hearing as fixed in the present petition”.
The petitioner Mahinder Kaur, in January 2021, had filed a criminal defamation case against Kangana Ranaut alleging that the actress Kangana , during farmers protest, had made defamatory comments in a twitter post by comparing Kaur with ‘Shaheen Bagh Dadi’ by saying that such protesters could be hired.
