HOUSTON, August 5, 2026: The Sikh Coalition and Interfaith America will jointly organize a public panel in Houston examining how the Sikh principle of sewa can contribute to religious freedom, democratic participation and cooperation among diverse communities.
The event, The Spirit of Sewa: Sikh Reflections on the Common Good at America’s 250th, is scheduled for August 15 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Saffron Indian Kitchen in Houston.
The discussion will be moderated by Sikh Coalition executive director Harman Singh. Panellists will include attorney and former US Department of Justice official Harpreet Singh Mokha, United Sikh Movement executive director Harsimran Kaur and Sikh Coalition co-founder Jasmit Singh.
Organizers say the programme will examine the Sikh-American community’s past and prospective role in building bridges, defending religious liberty and contributing to civic life.
Admission is free, but advance registration is required. The programme is a community discussion and does not represent a government policy announcement.
