Indian-American community representatives have raised concerns about consular services and property disputes during a meeting with a senior Indian government official in New York.

The representatives met Sripriya Ranganathan, the Ministry of External Affairs secretary responsible for consular, passport, visa and overseas-Indian affairs, according to New India Abroad.

The discussion also included suggestions for Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, India’s programme for engagement with overseas Indian communities.

The meeting gave community representatives an opportunity to present their concerns directly to the ministry. The report did not announce a new policy, revised service procedure or implementation timetable arising from the discussions.
