A woman was allegedly attacked by her stepson with a nail gun on Christmas Day in western Sydney.
The 50-year-old Ragni Narayan was shot multiple times on head at Bonnyrigg Heights home on Tuesday night.
Mrs. Narayan was in a critical condition and was taken to Liverpool Hospital for surgery.
20-year-old Akaash Narayan reportedly fled the scene on foot.
Akaash was arrested about 3.45 am on Wednesday and has been charged with intent to murder.
Fairfield Police Station acting Inspector Paul Luczak said that the incident was “terrible” and that the woman had suffered “severe injuries to her head”.
The husband of the victim was in shock and was treated by paramedics.
Akaash was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Bail Court on Thursday.
“Christmas is traditionally a hard time for police because there is an increase in domestic violence incidents,” said Inspector Paul Luczak.
