TMZ first broke the story, releasing photos and video of the pair seated at a table for two inside the Plateau-area restaurant, which is helmed by celebrity chef Danny Smiles. Earlier in the day, the outlet reported that Perry and Trudeau were also spotted walking together in Montreal’s Mount Royal Park.

According to eyewitness accounts, the duo shared cocktails and several dishes, including a lobster entrée. While the nature of their meeting remains unclear, sources say they appeared relaxed and in good spirits.

Samantha Jin, a communications consultant for Le Violon, confirmed to The Canadian Press that Perry and Trudeau spent roughly two hours at the restaurant and were “kind and warm” to staff throughout the evening.

“They kept to themselves,” Jin said. “No signs of PDA or anything like that. We just got the sense they wanted a quiet dinner.”

Before leaving, both Perry and Trudeau reportedly stopped by the kitchen to thank the culinary team.

Perry is currently on her Lifetimes Tour, with a show scheduled in Ottawa on Tuesday, followed by performances in Montreal and Quebec City later this week. The singer recently split from her longtime partner, actor Orlando Bloom. Trudeau and his ex-wife Sophie Grégoire announced their separation in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage.

Le Violon, which ranked 11th on the latest list of Canada’s 100 best restaurants, is known for its seafood-forward menu and focus on seasonal Quebec ingredients.
