Demands Acceptance of Farmers’ and Workers’ Issues
Immediate Resolution Sought to the Crisis of Electricity and Fertilizers for Paddy
Punjab Government Must Take Serious Decisions on the Demands of Farmers and Workers, Otherwise a Sharper Agitation Will Be Announced at the September 16 Meeting
The Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM), Chapter Punjab, will launch protests outside the residences of nine Punjab ministers and the Speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly from September 14, 2026. Through these protests, important demands concerning the farmers, workers, youth and other sections of Punjab will be placed before the Punjab Government.
Addressing the press, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said that the Punjab Government must take these demands concerning farmers and workers seriously and resolve them immediately. He said that at present, there is a crisis of electricity and fertilizers for the paddy crop, which must be resolved without delay.
Main Demands
1. Government Procurement of Crops at MSP
The Punjab Government should ensure that basmati, maize, moong, mustard and potato crops are not purchased below the Minimum Support Price (MSP), and that these crops are procured by the government at MSP.
2. Complete Debt Waiver for Farmers and Workers
The entire debt of farmers and workers should be waived. Families of farmers and workers who have died by suicide should be provided adequate compensation, and one member of each such family should be given a government job.
3. Crisis of Floods, Groundwater and Pollution
An effective policy should be formulated to address the crisis of floods, the declining groundwater level, and increasing air and water pollution in Punjab. The distribution of river waters should be carried out according to the riparian principle.
4. Opposition to Central Laws
Resolutions should be passed in the Punjab Legislative Assembly rejecting the Seed Act, 2025; the Cooperative Law, 2026; the G. Ram. Ji. law introduced by the Central Government by dismantling MGNREGA; and the Electricity Amendment Bill, 2025. The installation of prepaid electricity meters in Punjab should also be stopped immediately.
5. Resolution Against the India-US Trade Agreement
The Punjab Government should pass a resolution in the Punjab Legislative Assembly demanding the rejection of the India-US trade agreement.
6. Return of Materials Taken from the Shambhu and Khanauri Protest Sites
All materials, including tractors and trolleys belonging to farmers, that were looted or seized from the Shambhu and Khanauri protest sites should be returned immediately.
7. Ownership Rights for Settler Farmers and Workers
All categories of settler farmers and workers should be granted ownership rights over the lands that they have been cultivating and farming.
8. Withdrawal of Cases Registered During Agitations
All cases registered by the police and Railways during farmers’ and workers’ agitations, as well as cases registered in connection with stubble burning, should be withdrawn. Families of farmers and workers who were martyred during the agitations should be provided adequate compensation and a government job.
9. Land Pooling and Bharatmala Project
The Land Pooling Policy should be withdrawn immediately, and the forcible acquisition of farmers’ land for the Bharatmala project should be stopped.
10. Control Over Drugs and Employment
Drug abuse in Punjab should be effectively controlled, and proper and permanent employment opportunities should be provided to the youth.
11. Stop Drone Mapping of Villages
The drone-based mapping of villages being carried out by private entities in Punjab in the name of creating different zones, without the consent of the villagers, should be stopped immediately.
12. Open a Trade Corridor with Pakistan
A trade corridor should be opened to promote trade with neighbouring Pakistan so that farmers, traders and industries in Punjab can gain access to new markets.

The farmer leaders said that the Punjab Government should immediately hold talks on these demands and find a solution. If the Government fails to provide an appropriate resolution to the demands, a decision on the next phase of intensified agitation will be taken at the meeting scheduled for September 16.
On this occasion, Jaswinder Singh Longowal of BKU Ekta Azad, Balwant Singh Behramke of BKU Behramke, Onkar Singh Purana Bhangala of Kisan Mazdoor Hitkari Sabha, Manjit Singh Rai of BKU Doaba, Baldev Singh Zira of BKU Krantikari, Gurdhian Singh Siona of BKU Bhaneri, Malkeet Singh Ghulami Wala of Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, and Sukhwinder Singh Sabhra of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee Punjab, along with representatives of various farmers’ organizations that will participate in the protests, were present.
