Chandigarh: Acting on the directions of the Chief Minister for resolving the issues faced by rice Millers, the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak today gave the in-principle nod for extending the last date for submitting application for final registration of new rice mills till from August 5 to September 5, 2022.
The Minister chaired a detailed meeting with the Millers in which he accepted the contention of the Rice Millers that the onset of monsoons had hampered the construction activity and slowed down the movement of goods and services essential for commissioning the rice mills. As a result some Millers were unable to complete the pre-registration formalities before the prescribed date for inspection of their premises by the authorities.
Further keeping in view the multiple public holidays in the recent times, the Minister also decided to extend the last date for applying for Stage 2 allotment of old Rice Mills from 20th August to 24th August.
Reiterating the commitment of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led State Government to ensure an industry friendly atmosphere, the Minister said that the rice millers are very intricately connected to the economic well being of Punjab hence the State Government would always accord priority to their interests.
