Patiala: Department of Chemistry, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University (SGGSWU), organized an invited talk of Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Mandal from IISER, Mohali. This lecture was organized by the University in continuation of different programmes to celebrate 550th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The title of his talk was ‘Porous materials (Old & New) for energy and environmental applications’. Prof. Mandal started his lecture with examples of porous materials used in our daily lives. He explained the types of porous materials, methodologies and challenges involved in their synthesis and the classification of porous materials. He concluded his talk by discussing the applications of zeolites and MOFs towards gas adsorption and metal ion sensing. The lecture was presided over by Dr. Prit Pal Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the University. In his presidential address, he stressed upon the promotion of usage of porous materials to conserve our environment. He assured that students will definitely get benefitted by the valuable talk by Prof. Mandal. Dr. Rahul Badru, Asst Professor, Department of Chemistry, presented the vote of thanks at the end. He thanked Prof. Mandal for accepting their invitation to deliver this valuable lecture and all the participants.
