Chandigarh – Max Hospital, Mohali on Thursday announced the launch of the Da Vinci Xi surgical robot which is one of the most advanced technologies in India.
Talking to the media during a press conference here today , Dr. Vivek Bindal, associate director bariatric and robotic surgery and Dr. Anupam Goel, consultant bariatric and GI surgery said that this surgical robot enables doctors to perform complex surgeries with increased precision, flexibility and minimal blood loss. This technology will be deployed for surgeries under various disciplines including gynaecology, oncology, urology, general surgery, bariatric (weight loss) surgery, hernia and gastrointestinal surgery.
The da Vinci surgical system provides an advanced set of instruments to surgeons for performing robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery, they maintained.
Armed with this latest technology, our surgeons will be able to perform complex surgeries using computer-guided, magnified, 3-D visualisation and the results are impressive, they said.
Dr. Seema Wadhwa, associate director Gynaecology said, “Robotic Surgery allows surgeons to access difficult to reach areas with precision & large magnification. In robotic surgery, small incisions are made in place of a large incision, which is therefore less invasive than the traditional surgeries. ”
Today robotics is the gold standard in minimally invasive surgeries. Compared to most open cancer surgeries – Robotic assisted surgery has a shorter Length of stay in hospital, lesser intra operative blood loss and lesser postoperative morbidity, informed Dr Ritesh Pruthy, senior consultant, surgical oncology.
Meanwhile Max has a team of medical experts who are certified and trained under seven different specialties to perform surgeries with the Da Vinci Xi robot.
