The US software giant Microsoft founded by Bill Gates in 1970s along with Billionaire Paul Allen died after his battle with cancer at the age of 65 on Monday.
In a statement, Allen’s sister Jody said, “My brother was an extraordinary individual on each level. While most knew Paul Allen as a philanthropist and technologist, for us he was a much-loved brother and uncle, and an exceptional friend.”
After revealing in open that non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma he fought into remission nine years ago returned, Allen just died two weeks later.
Untreatable cancer affects white blood cells (WBCs).
Allen administered his charitable endeavors and business at Vulcan Inc.
Also, he owned professional US sports teams – Portland Trail Blazers and Seattle Seahawks and was a partial owner of the Major League Soccer team the Seattle Sounders.
Besides this, he was quite active with the Allen Institutes of scientific research.
Vulcan, launched by Allen after exiting from Microsoft in 1983, said in a statement, “All of us who had the honor of working with Paul feel inexpressible loss today.”
According to Forbes, Allen’s estimated net worth stood at $20.3 billion.
Microsoft said Allen’s “contributions to our company, our industry and to our community are indispensable.”
The company’s CEO Satya Nadella said, “As co-founder of Microsoft, in his own quiet and determined way, he created magical experiences, products and institutions. And in doing so, he changed the world.”
