The union government should stop such ‘trial by fire’ on the youth of the country: Raghav Chadha
– This scheme will have a bad effect on the capability and quality of the army: MP Chadha
Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha on Saturday wrote a letter to Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh demanding the”roll-back and re-deliberation” of the Centre’s Agnipath scheme.
In his letter, MP Chadha pointed out several shortcomings of the Agnipath scheme and sought immediate withdrawal of the scheme from the Central Government after which voices were being raised against it by the youth across the country.
He said that the Indian Armed forces have been a beacon of hope representing the highest standards of professionalism, service, and spirit, however, the introduction of the Agnipath scheme has caused great anguish among potential recruits from across the country.
He enumerated five main flaws in the scheme and said that the scheme is not good for the country and the youth of the country at all. Such a short period of training will have a bad effect on the “quality of service” of the army.
Raghav Chadha further said that the government should not mess with the security of the army and the country to control its economic situation. He advised the government that some pilot projects should be run before implementing this scheme.
MP Chadha appealed to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to immediately withdraw the scheme and stop such “trial by fire” on the youth of the country.
He said that the Aam Aadmi Party completely opposes this scheme. AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal has also appealed to the government to withdraw it.
