-NECESSARY INFRASTRUCTURE & GROUNDWORK TO BE COMPLETED BY 31ST
-ALL SET FOR ROLL OUT ON 1ST SEPTEMBER
CHANDIGARH: “The Bus Rapid Transport System (BRTS) project with regard to the Guru Ki Nagri Sri Amritsar Sahib is well on course with all the necessary infrastructure and groundwork set to be completed by 31st August.” This was disclosed by Local Government Minister Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu in a press communiqué after attending a high-level meeting here today to access and review the progress of the project. 
In this meeting the Finance Minister, Punjab, Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal desired and requested that Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu lead a delegation of the local MLAs and the MP Amritsar for ground-level inspection of the project on 26th June, 2018 so as to have a firsthand knowledge of how the things are taking shape pertaining to the project.
Calling the project to be a milestone in the developmental annals of the state, Mr. Sidhu said that the local MLAs, Mayor Municipal Corporation Amritsar and the Member of Parliament from the holy city today called to review the progress of the project besides deliberating on how to go about removing the bottlenecks in order to be able to roll out the project full throttle on 1st of September, 2018.
Divulging more, Mr. Sidhu said that a trial run would be conducted to see how much work with regard to the project is complete and it would be based on taking stock of the work at Bhandari Bridge, Bus Shelters, and the Interval of the buses (which in any case must not be more than 5 minutes). The minister said that the issues raised in today’s meeting by the Local MLAs and MP would be addressed at the ground level and the views aired by all stakeholders would be taken into account.
On the occasion, Finance Minister, Punjab, Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal, Education Minister Mr. O.P. Soni, MP Amritsar Mr. Gurjit Singh Aujla, Mayor Municipal Corporation Amritsar Mr. Karamjit Singh, MLA Mr. Sunil Datti, Principal Secretary Local Government Mr. A. Venu Prasad, Principal Secretary Finance Mr. Anirudh Tiwari, Secretary PWD Mr. Hussan Lal, Deputy Commissioner Amritsar Mr. Kamaldeep Singh Sangha, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Amritsar Mrs. Sonali Giri and others were also present.
