Indian-origin technology entrepreneur Sandeep Nailwal, a co-founder of Polygon Labs, has launched a digital fundraising campaign for communities affected by the catastrophic floods in Nepal.
The initiative allows contributors in different countries to donate stablecoins through NepalRelief.org. According to the organizers, the digital assets will be converted into local currency before the money is transferred to Nepal’s Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund.
Stablecoins are cryptocurrencies designed to maintain a value linked to a conventional asset, commonly the US dollar. The initiative is intended to make cross-border donations faster and more accessible for members of the international community, including the Indian diaspora.
This is a privately organized fundraising effort—not an aid programme operated by the Indian government. The report reviewed did not provide an independently audited total for donations collected or transferred. Prospective donors should verify the website, destination wallet and fund-transfer arrangements before making a contribution.
