The inaugural US–India TRUST Fellowship has entered its implementation phase, creating opportunities for researchers from leading American institutions to undertake year-long projects at prominent Indian universities.
Participating institutions include the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru and Manipal Academy of Higher Education. The public-private programme also involves the US Consulate General in Chennai and philanthropic sponsors.
The fellowship supports research in strategic fields such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, semiconductors, biotechnology, energy, defence and space.
According to information published by participating institutions, selected postdoctoral researchers are eligible for a monthly stipend of US$1,650, on-campus accommodation and meals, medical insurance, one round-trip economy airfare and visa assistance. IIT Madras also lists a possible visiting-faculty track with an enhanced monthly stipend of US$3,650 for candidates meeting its requirements.
The programme promotes academic mobility and US–India technology collaboration. It should not be confused with a new immigration route, employment visa or permanent-residency programme.
