The Union Cabinet has okayed the construction of the Kartarpur Sahib corridor. The construction is to be done from Dera Baba Nanak to the international border.

Sources said that according to the cabinet decision, the government would build the Kartarpur corridor till the international border. The government has also urged the Pakistan government to do the same on its side to respect the sentiments of Sikhs.The cabinet briefing is currently on, where details are being given.
A High Level Committee chaired by me will regularly review, monitor and oversee the implementation of activities to celebrate 550th Birth Anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Devji.

Meanwhile, Union Food Processing Minister and SAD leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal welcomed the decision, hoping Pakistan would cooperate on the matter.She described the decision as historic and in keeping with the sentiments of Sikhs. The SAD had long been demanding this.
The States/UTs also being requested to celebrate 550th Birth Anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Devji in a befitting manner. Indian missions overseas to organize special events on the occasion. UNESCO to be requested to publish Shri Guru Nanak Devji’s writings in world languages.

She said Punjab Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu had claimed that the Pakistan government had decided to open the corridor to Sikh pilgrims to visit Kartarpur Sahib following his visit to the country.She said, “Now, Pakistan will have to walk the talk.”
On Shiromani Akali Dal’s persistent requests, the cabinet has given green signal to opening up of Kartarpur Sahab corridor. Eternally grateful to @narendramodi ji and the entire cabinet for taking this historic decision.
