Chandigarh – An important meeting of panthic leaders was held today under the leadership of Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa at office of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt); in which the former president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) Bibi Jagir Kaur, senior Akali leaders Ratan Singh Ajnala, Jagmeet Singh Brar, Buta Singh Ranshih, along with the entire leadership of Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) were present. During the meeting, various leaders presented their ideas for the revival of Shiromani Akali Dal. Meanwhile, the leaders emphasized on raising panthic ideologies to restore the dignity of Sikh institutions.
Talking to the mediapersons after the meeting, President, Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt), Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa said that there is an urgent need to unite to rid the Panth and Punjab from the Badals; so that the Badal family who have established their monopoly over the Shiromani Committee and the Akali Dal can be removed from the foremost institutions of Sikhs. “There is no place for politics in religion, but religion is always above politics, he added.
Meanwhile, Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the Shiromani Akali Dal, a century-old organization of martyrs, has come to the sidelines today due to the complete rejection of the panthic agenda by the Badal Dal. She said that if the Panth will be strong, then the Akali Dal will automatically become strong and thus the Panth supporters should unite among themselves.
Jagmeet Singh Brar said that today it is necessary to revive the panth and Punjab while guarding the original principles of the Shiromani Akali Dal and soon concrete programs will be drawn up in the entire state to raise the Shiromani Akali Dal in its old cult form.
