Patna: A strange case has come to light in Bihar’s capital Patna in which a doctor removed only one kidney of a patient instead of a stone. A 20-year-old man from Begusarai had recently come to a private clinic near Road No. 11 under Patna’s Kankarbagh police station area for surgery on his stone, but was surprised to learn that his kidney had been removed.

The incident came to light when the patient started having abdominal pain. When his family approached the doctor to find out the cause, the doctor initially tried to avoid the matter but when the family persisted, he started apologizing and asked them to resolve the issue. As the news spread to nearby areas, the crowd gathered and there was a commotion. The family also informed the police. Police reached the spot and calmed down the people.

However, the doctor said that the patient also had a stone on his right side and he said that he had to have his kidney removed due to excessive bleeding during the operation. He further added that he had also given this information to the family members but the relatives of the patient had denied it. The family explained why the organ was removed when the patient had no kidney problems. Meanwhile, there are reports that the patient’s family settled the matter with the doctor on a stamp paper of Rs 1,000 and received compensation of Rs 10 lakh.
