Chandigarh:State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed a private person working as assistant of Revenue Patwari at revenue halqa Mahru in district Patiala red handed for accepting bribe.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of Vigilance Bureau Punjab said Patwari’s assistant Jai Singh was caught red handed on the complaint of Mr. Pargat Singh of village Mahru, district Patiala.
Giving details he said the complainant approached the VB and alleged that the patwari Tejinder Singh and private person Jai Singh were demanding bribe of Rs. 20,000/- for mutation of his land and the deal was struck at Rs. 19000/-. The complainant also informed that he had already given Rs. 10000/- to both the accused as first installment.
After verifying his complaint the VB team laid a trap and both the accused assistant was caught red handed for taking Rs. 9000/- as a second installment from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused at VB police Patiala and further investigation was under progress.
