Newyork: Pharmaceutical companies, Pfizer and BioNtech have called for emergency use of their vaccine for children between the age of 6 months to 4 years.

Both pharmaceutical companies said that Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE announced today that following a request from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the companies have submitted changes to the emergency use authorization (EUA) of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. A rolling submission is initiated.

Pfizer and BioNTech said that for children 6 months to 4 years of age (6 months to 5 years of age) in this population for urgent public health needs, the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is allowed for 5 years.

It will be the first vaccine available for children under the age of 1. Pfizer and BioNTech said they expected the completion of EUA submissions in the coming days.
