On Monday evening, the arrow attack occurred in the Ilford area of east London.
As per the Metropolitan Police, “The victim was found suffering an abdominal injury. She was taken to hospital where she later died.”
While on Tuesday, Scotland Yard officers charged 50-year-old Ramanodge Unmathallegadoo with the murder of a 35-year-old woman, said to be his ex-partner.
The police said, “This is a tragic incident and our sympathies are with the loved ones and friends of the victim.”
Sana Muhammad is the name by which Devi was commonly called after allegedly being converted into Islam when she married Imtiaz Muhammad, her husband about seven years ago.
She had two young girls, aged five and two, with husband Muhammad and three children, aged 18, 14 and 12, with her ex-partner.
In a newspaper, Imtiaz Muhammad told, “She was a wonderful mother and wife. We were together for seven years. I am heartbroken; we were inseparable.”
Mr Imtiaz noticed the attacker in their home’s shed with a loaded crossbow.
To alert his wife and children, He ran back into the home but was shot with the arrow in her abdomen.
Imtiaz said, “The arrow went up into her heart but did not touch the unborn baby. The baby was due in four weeks. They operated with the arrow still in because it would have been too dangerous to take out.”
The accused, Ramanodge Unmathallegadoo remains in custody and will be produced before the Old Bailey court in London on Thursday.
