• 300 MACHINES TO BE SET UP FOR PATIALA DEPOT BUSES AS PILOT PROJECT
  • PRTC IN FAST TRACK MODE TO ROLL OUT PROJECT BY 15TH JULY

CHANDIGARH, JUNE 24:

In a unique as well as path breaking initiative, the Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) has decided to issue bus tickets through online machines. This would result in the information of the ticket issued by the bus conductor automatically reaching the concerned depot and the Headoffice through online manner. During the 1st phase, the scheme would be started at the Patiala Bus Depot as a pilot project by 15th July and afterwards it would get underway at other depots also. This was disclosed here today in a press statement by the Transport Minister, Punjab, Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary.

Mrs. Chaudhary said that at present the tickets are issued in the PRTC buses through offline machines whose record is uploaded at the office by attaching the machine to the computer after the route gets completed. The new initiative would see the online ticket machines available at the bus depots and with the bus conductors deputed at the buses. The moment any ticket is issued the entire information pertaining to it would be uploaded directly onto the server of the concerned depot as well as that of the Headoffice.

The minister further added that this would result in the officers at the depot and the Headoffice being fully aware of the record of the tickets being issued at the buses besides making it easier for the checking staff to check the bus. The minister also said that this working mechanism would be come in handy to curb corruption and furthermore the entire record of the passengers in every bus apart from their destination would also be updated with the Headoffice.

Mrs. Chaudhary also said that as pilot project, this initiative would be commencing at the Patiala Bus Depot where 300 online machines would be provided to the depot as well as to the bus conductors. She informed that the PRTC has made full preparations to roll out this project by the 15th of July.
