Extending his warm wishes on the occasion of Lohri festival, DGP Dinkar Gupta said, “The year gone by has been very tough. At the Punjab Police, our brave officers spent a lot of time and energy in providing humanitarian support to the citizens of the state. Our Saanjh unit especially was in the forefront of helping families, women, children, and the elderly during the pandemic. This momentum has now been carried forward through Project Winter Warmth”.
Project Winter Warmth is an initiative of the Saanjh, assisted by Punjab Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) authority to reach out to the poorest of the poor. Many leading corporates including Nestle, Mrs. Bector’s Cremica, Vardhman Special Steels etc, lending a helping hand in this noble initiative have contributed liberally to Project Winter Warmth.
While the initial handover ceremony was organised in Chandigarh, Saanjh and Punjab Police teams will start handing over the “Small Packets of Joy and Cheer” in Ludhiana, Kapurthala, and other districts too. As many as 11000 gift packs will be handed over across the state in the first phase.
“Project Winter Warmth is a small beginning for us at Saanjh, but we believe that we can build on this initiative in the months and years to come. Saanjh is focused on community services and the Winter Warmth initiative will only help us get even closer to the families we try to support and help,” said Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Community Affairs Division Gurpreet Kaur Deo.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Punjab CSR Authority Dr Sandeep Goyal expressed his gratitude to all corporates in Punjab, especially Nestle, Mrs. Bector’s Cremica, Vardhman Special Steels, for their unflinching support to Project Winter Warmth. Some other corporates have also contributed from their CSR funds but have requested not to be publicly acknowledged, he added.
Meanwhile, DGP Dinkar Gupta also handed over appreciation certificates to the corporates which have contributed in the Winter Warmth project.
