Chandigarh:Targeting Badals (both SAD and Congress) for betraying the people of Punjab and devastating the state, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab co-incharge and MLA from Delhi Raghav Chadha said that Bathinda had made several ministers in the centre and state government; but the condition of the city was still the same with no improvement in various sectors. Chadha said that ‘Badals’ had done nothing for Bathinda and this region, for which people had been constantly electing them to power. “It’s B for ‘Badal’ (both SAD and Congress) and B for ‘BedaGark’ in Punjab, which they had done to the state and its people,” he added. Raghav Chadha, who is on a visit to Punjab following campaign in favour of the party candidates for the upcoming municipal bodies’ elections, visited Bathinda and held a mega roadshow on Wednesday. A large number of people attended the roadshow and gave an overwhelming response to the AAP.Lashing out at Badals, he said that according to the people, SAD was equally responsible for dismantling the government system and establishing corporate houses in Punjab. He said that the Badals had stabbed the people of Punjab in the back and they along with their cronies had filled their coffers by looting the property of the state. “Even at this time, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Member of Parliament from Bathinda, till a few days ago, was a Cabinet Minister in the Modi government, and MLA Manpreet Singh Badal is the Finance Minister in the Punjab government, but they did not bring any new project for Bathinda,” said Chadha.

Slamming Badals for destroying the government and cooperative sectors, Chadha said that Punjab Finance Manpreet Badal had made several promises to the people before the 2017 assembly elections, all of which had fallen flat. He said that Manpreet Badal, who pledged to make Punjab a debt-free and surplus state after forming the government, had instead increased Punjab’s debt many times from before. “People say that before the elections, Manpreet Badal had promised that he would run the Sri Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Plant well, but soon after forming the government, he closed it and snatched away the employment of thousands of people and now are going to give 2200 acres of thermal plant land to mafia at throwaway prices,” said Chadha.

Chadha further said that corruption was at the peak in Bathinda and people were telling him that before getting any work done, they had to pay ‘Jojo’ tax. He said that people were fed up from the corruption being rampant in Bathinda and according to them, their MP and MLA, both had been paying lip service on ‘goonda tax’ being extorted from transporters at the Bathinda refinery in the form of JST (Jojo Service Tax). Speaking about the civic issues faced by the locals, Chadha said that for the last 53 years, Akali Dal had kept its hold in Bathinda municipal corporation; but still people were craving for lanes and drains. “No developmental works have been done in Bathinda for the locals. The condition of drains and sanitation systems has gone from bad to worse. It can be judged from the fact that Bathinda becomes a complete lake when it rains heavily,” he added.

Taking a dig at Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Chadha said that being a minister, she allowed black laws on agriculture and now was shedding crocodile tears, to portray herself as a pro-farmer. “Harsimrat Kaur Badal should now tell as to why she preached about these black laws for two months and why she kept telling people that these laws are very good for agriculture.
