With the image of the late ex-Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the RBI (Reserve Bank of India) is ready to launch a 100-rupee coin, said an official statement.
Key Features of the new Rs 100 coin:
- The 100-rupee coin will weigh 35 grams.
- A portrait of late Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be imprinted on one side of the coin with his name written below in English and Devanagari.
- On the other side of the coin, in the center, it will have the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar and Satyameva Jayate beneath it inscribed in Devanagari script.
- On the right of Ashoka Pillar, Bharat will be written in English and on left, it will be written in English.
- The denominational value of 100 along with the rupee symbol will be imprinted at the bottom of the backside.
The circulation of the Rs 100 coin is still to be announced.
Rs 100 coin will be the highest denomination coin in Indian history ever.
Also, it will be made in the memory of recently-deceased politician, Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
A former Prime Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, passed away at the age of 93 on August 16.
