Rupee vs dollar

The Indian rupee breaches lifetime low of 73.34 against US dollar on Wednesday trade.

On account of Gandhi Jayanti, the forex and money markets were closed on Tuesday.

Over the last two sessions, there was a sharp rise in global crude oil prices due to which the rupee plunged to a record low in opening trade on Wednesday.

In the early trade, the rupee hit 73.34, an all-time low per greenback; lower than its previous close of 72.93.

The rupee skidded 43 paise to close at a near 2-week low of 72.91 against the greenback on Monday along with a strengthening dollar and stable capital outflows.

Globally, Asian shares marked down on Wednesday.

Rising US crude inventories and a probable increase in production, oil prices slipped on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the domestic stock markets started the Wednesday’s trade session on a red note.

Around 9:20 am, the 30-share Sensex started at 36,367.60, down 158.54 points or 0.43%.

While the NSE Nifty50 traded at 10,955.05, plunged 53.25 points or 0.48%.
