Sangrur – The bypoll on Sangrur Parliamentary seat has started at 8 am today.

The seat fell vacant after Bhagwant Mann, now Chief Minister Punjab, contested Assembly Election 2022 from Dhuri constituency.

There are 16 candidates in fray including 13 male and 3 women. The voting will be done from 8am to 6pm and the counting of votes is scheduled for June 26.

The Employees are given special provision to cast vote as they the holiday will be paid holiday for the purpose of vote casting. According to Punjab Government official statement, the paid holiday can be availed by those  who are working in factories, commercial establishments and shops.

It is to mention here, as many as 15, 69,240 voters will be excercising their vote in 1,766 polling booths to elect the candidate. Out of which 296 booths are considered vulnerable.
