Newsdesk – The federal Government has put Hockey Canada on notice by freezing funds.

The Minister of Sports Pascale St Onge came up with a statement telling that the funds of the said organisation has been frozen due to its response to an alleged sexual assault and out of court settlement option.

The Minister of Sports St Onge said the funds will be released the funds of organisation would be restored only after the disclosure about the out of court settlement in detail and also to let committee know about the recommended  improvements made by third party firm that was hired to investigate the alleged sexual assault.

This move is made after Hockey Canada president Scot Smith and outgoing CEO Tom Renny were questioned by MPs earlier this week during standing committee on Canadian Heritage hearing.

Earlier, Hockey Canada CEO Tom Renny told before the standing committee that no government funding was used for the case settlement of alleged sexual assault.

According to the reports the financial records show Hockey Canada had received 14 Million dollars in Federal Government support in 2020  and 2021. The organisation would corporate fully with the audit, he said in open house.
