Newsdesk – Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, the Santoor Maestro, passed away due to age related complications and illness on Tuesday, he was 83.

He is survived by wife Manorma Sharma and two sons Rohit Sharma and Rahul. Today the Maestro’s mortal remains were kept at home in Mumbai for antim ardas and afterwards the state funeral took place.Teary-eyed Rahul Sharma performs the last rites of his father Pandit Shivkumar Sharma.

The famous screenplay writer Javed Akhtar, Shabana Aazmi big wig actors Bachchan couple Amitabh and Jaya also attended the  ceremony and paid last tribute to the great santoor musician.

Veteran musician Shiv Kumar had composed music of film ‘Silsila’ , Amitabh Bachchan , Sanjeev Kumar and Rekha starer movie of 1981. Yash Chopra is the director of this film.

The Santoor player intially started his journey of music as tabla player. He was born in Shimla. Soon , he got attracted to the string instrument from Jammu and Kashmir, the Santoor, giving it global pride with his fingers dancing on strings to create soothing and calm music.
