Chandigarh : A special lecture was organized by the Punjab School Education Department through Eduset to disseminate information among teachers and students about the adverse effects of stubble burning.
According to the spokesperson of School Education Department, a special lecture was organized by the State Educational Research and Training Council in consonance with guidelines of School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains to educate students about the adverse impacts of burning paddy straw on people’s health.
During the lecture Director, State Educational Research and Training Council Dr. Maninder Singh Sarkaria and Lecturer, Physics Dr. Jaswinder Singh effectively sensitized school heads, teachers and students through Eduset and inspired others to sensitize the students.
Dr. Sarkaria said that students and teachers can play a vanguard role in maintaining a clean atmosphere. Meanwhile, Dr. Jaswinder Singh while addressing the group of teachers, made thorough glimpse about the methods and activities through which common man can be made aware about the ill effects of stubble burning free of cost.
He said that stubble burning increases air pollution coupled with respiratory diseases caused to death. It is also harmful for the small orgasms living in the soil which directly or indirectly helps in making the soil fertile. He also shared his suggestions regarding the optimal usage of the paddy straw and other crops residues. Program Coordinator Rumkeet Kaur was also present on this occasion.
