These views were expressed by Navjot Singh Sidhu president Punjab Pardesh Congress Comittee while addressing the function organized here at Shaheed Udham Singh Memorial by district administration to pay tributes to the Shaheed Udham Singh on the occasion of his martyrdom Day. He said, ‘Our country got the independence with the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters. Now it is our duty that we must fulfill their dreams by contributing in the development of our state and country.’

During this Kuljit Singh Nagra , Acting president Punjab Pardesh Congress Comittee and MLA Fatehgarh Sahib said that Shaheed Udham Singh had given the message of unity and brotherhood which is a source of inspiration for our country. He said that the main purpose of celebrating the martyrdom days of such great martyrs is to make the younger generation aware of the sacrifices and our rich heritage. He said that today we should take a pledge that we will strengthen our unity and contribute in the progress of our country.

Sidhu also paid tributes at Mata Chakreshwari Devi Temple, Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, Gurdwara Sri Jyoti Swarup, Rouza Sharif and Mata Naina Devi temple.
