Jalandhar, June 21 –

The three day long sub-national immunization round of pulse polio drive would begin from June 27, wherein as many as 41858 children to be covered with anti-police vaccine drops, said Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori while presiding over a meeting to review the preparedness for this drive.

The DC said that children between the age group of 0-5 belonging to the high risk population to be covered during the drive as about 352 teams would conduct door to door visits to administer the anti-polio vaccine drops by visiting 81315 houses. He also mentioned that during these three days the permanent camps would be set up at the Railway station and Bus Stand to cover maximum beneficiaries.

Mr. Thori exhorted people to ensure their children from zero to five get the polio drops in nearby polio booths during these days. He added that only through people’s cooperation the war against polio disease could be won over. The DC stated that the health department has constituted 417 teams including 245 teams for rural and 172 for the urban areas. Of these, a total of 352 teams would visit 38313 and 43002 houses in rural and urban areas respectively.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the health department to lay focus on high-risk migratory population by making special visits to construction sites and brick kilns. He appealed to the residents to assist the health teams in carrying out this drive successfully. Prominent among others present on the occasion included Civil Surgeon Dr. Balwant Singh, District Immunization Officer Dr. Rakesh Chopra, and others.
