Washington: American gymnast Simone Byles, one of the most successful athletes in the world, cried in the courtroom on Wednesday. She was testifying before the US Senate about sexual harassment against former team doctor Larry Nasser. He was joined by two other players, Ellie Riceman and McKella Maroni.

A Senate team is investigating the lack of an FBI investigation into Nasser, who is serving a life sentence in prison. Dr Nasser has been convicted of sexually abusing 300 girls. U.S. lawmakers told Simon how the FBI, U.S. gymnasts and Olympic officials failed to stop sexual harassment. “I want to make it clear that I, along with Larry Nasser, blame the whole system for what happened,” he lamented.
