Chandigarh: State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed a Panchayat Secretary posted at Rajpura, district Palatial red handed for accepting bribe of Rs.1,10,000 and registered a corruption case against BDPO Rajpura also.
Disclosing this here today a spokesman of Vigilance Bureau Punjab said Amrik Singh Panchayat Secretary posted at Rajpura block in district Patiala was caught red handed on the complaint of Amlok Singh of village Laadbanjara Kalan district Sangrur.
Giving details he said the complainant approached the VB and alleged that BDPO Rajpura Savinder Singh and Panchayat Secretary Rajpura Amrik Singh were demanding Rs. 1, 10,000 from him to refund a cheque amounting to Rs. 8.80 lakh as a security deposit for mining purposes.
After verifying his complaint the VB team laid a trap and the accused Panchayat Secretary was caught red handed and tainted money was recovered from him in the presence of two official witnesses. He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused at VB police station Patiala and further investigation was under progress.
