The equity benchmark indices started on a green note on Friday’s trading session amid firm global cues.

At 9:59 am, the S&P BSE Sensex index traded at 36,123.07, with a gain of 315.79 points or 0.88%, while the National Stock Exchange index Nifty50 surged as much as 90.30 points or 0.84% to trade at 10870.10.

On Dalal Street, the gains were led by banking, financial services, auto stocks, and pharma.

The top gainers on the Sensex pack were Heavyweights HDFC, Reliance, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank.

United Phosphorus Ltd, HDFC, Titan, Sun Pharma, and Yes Bank contribute the most to the gains on the Nifty pack.

In the Asian market, the MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan gained 0.3%.

Meanwhile, the 30-share Sensex settled at 35,807, up 157 points while the 50-scrip Nifty ended 49 points or 0.47 at 10,779.
