The domestic equity markets started on a negative note on Wednesday’s trading session.

The Sensex index of Bombay Stock Exchange started at 35,443.16and the NSE Nifty50 opened at 10,635.45.

At 10:17 am, the 30-share Sensex traded at 35040.51, with the loss of 429.64 points or 1.21%, while the 50-scrip was at 10537.45, down 126.05 points or 1.18%.

Out of 50 Nifty stocks, thirty-nine traded in the red.

Losing between 2.19% and 1.37%, Hindustan Unilever, IndiaBulls Housing Finance, Induslnd Bank, Sun Pharma, and Wipro were the top Nifty laggards.

The top laggards in the Sensex pack were Heavyweights Infosys, Hindustan Unilever and TCS.

In the global markets, the MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan slipped 0.15%.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the equity benchmark indexes remained closed on the account of Christmas.

The Sensex closed 271.92 points or 0.76% lower at 35,470.15, while the broader Nifty50 settled at 10,663.5, with a loss of 90.50 points or 0.84% on Monday (Christmas Eve).
