Ahead of RBI (Reserve Bank of India) board meeting on Monday, the domestic stock markets started on a positive note.
The S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) index Sensex opened at 35,647.62 and the broader Nifty50 35,647.62.
After trading few minutes in the session, the S&P BSE Sensex traded 190.46 points or 0.54% higher at 35,647.62, and the NSE Nifty50 was up 42.65 points or 0.40% to trade at 10,724.85.
The top five gainers on the Nifty gainers were Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Mahindra and Mahindra, Yes Bank, Infosys and Eicher Motors.
All sectoral indexes traded in the green led by gains in public sector banking stocks and pharma.
In the global market, MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan tacked on 0.1% and Chinese blue chips 0.5%.
Meanwhile, the 30-share Sensex ended 196.62 points or 0.56% higher at 35,457.16 and the 50-scrip Nifty settled at 35,457.16, with a gain of 65.50 points or 0.62%.
