– Connected to his roots, CM Mann terms Gurmail ‘best-suitable’ candidate for Sangrur constituency
Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Gurmail Singh has filed his nomination papers for Sangrur bypoll in the presence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday. Gurmail, Sangrur district in-charge, was nominated for bypoll by the party on Friday, which is scheduled for June 23. Talking to media persons, CM Mann said that AAP is representative party of “Common people” and declaring Gurmail as candidate from Sangrur bypoll is testament of it.
Expressing confidence on Gurmail, CM Mann said that a well-educated Gurmail is connected to his roots and has been working diligently for welfare of Sangrur residents for past many years. Gurmail is a post-graduate in maths and has also done MBA. Before entering the politics as full time politician, he was a teacher and taught children at various schools till 2018. A party spokesperson said that Singh became circle chief of Bhawanigarh block in 2015.
He, later elected as Sarpanch of Gharachon village in 2018 and AAP had appointed him district president of Sangrur district in 2021. Speaking to media, after filing his nomination papers, Gurmail said that his sole aim is to uplift the Sangrur Loksabha constituency and carry forward the mission of CM Bhagwant Mann to make the state again “Rangla Punjab”. He assured people that he will raise crucial issues of the Punjab in the Parliament once got elected as MP from the constituency.
Meanwhile, the seat fell vacant after incumbent CM Mann, resigned as MP following his triumph from the Dhuri constituency in the state assembly elections. Earlier, Mann had won from Sangrur parliamentary seat in 2014 and 2019.
