PORT-AU-PRINCE/MIAMI — Eighteen suspects in the 2021 assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse were flown to the United States to face trial. American prosecutors say 30 people have now been indicted in connection with the attack.
Four South Florida men were previously convicted of helping organize, finance and equip the operation. Haitian activists criticized the transfer as evidence that their country’s justice system cannot handle its most consequential criminal case.
