Chandigarh – Former Minister and congress leader Sadhu Singh Dharamsot arrested by Vigilance Bureau early morning from Amloh in a forest related case. In the last congress regime, Dharamsot was Social Welfare and Forest minister.
This action has been taken by the state police days after district forest officer Guramanpreet Singh and contractor Harminder Singh Hummy was arrested by Vigilance.
In an information , the Vigilance officials told that the former minister was sent Rs. 500 of each tree that was cut in forest area. In preliminary information it has come in fore that around 35 thousand trees were cut within the forest periphery. During the investigation of DFO and contractor, the involvement of Dharamsot in the scam was unearthed, the officials said. Two others also arrested in this case.
Meanwhile , another congress leader Sangat Singh Gilzian is also booked under sections of prevention of Corruption Act for conspiracy to cheat public exchequer. He has been levied accusations of taking a sum of Rs 6.40 crore in the project of installation of tree guards. According to sources , around 18000 tree guards were installed and the accused uded to pocket Rs 800 each.
