Prime Minister designate Imran Khan has called up his cricketing-days friend Navjot Singh Sidhu to attend his swearing-in ceremony on August 18.

Confirming the development, Sidhu said Imran thanked him for congratulating him and said, “Sidhu ji, tussi aana zaroor hai.” To this, Sidhu said he would surely be there.

Sidhu said, “My office has intimated the offices of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh. Secretary (Protocol) Kripa Shanker has been forwarded the formal invite from the office of the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) party.

The letter from the office of the PTI chairman’s secretariat said, “It is indeed a great pleasure to have invited you for the oath-taking ceremony of PTI’s Chairman Imran Khan as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The event will be held in Islamabad on Saturday–August 18. We would want you to kindly grace this historic occasion with your presence.”

The note also added, “Our Chairman’s Secretariat will stay in touch with you regarding further coordination and details.”
