Would CM still consider the killing of a Nakodar-based businessman and his gunman as ‘minor crime incidents’ happening in some parts of the state?l
Chandigarh – Amid the escalation of gangsterism and gun crime in Punjab in which a businessman and his security guard (policeman) were gunned down in Nakodar recently, Senior Congress Leader and Punjab’s Leader of Opposition, Partap Singh Bajwa on Friday said CM must wake up now from a deep slumber and rein in the aggravating crime in the state.
Bajwa said that it was high time CM paid attention to the state. There has been a sense of insecurity, particularly among the business community of Punjab. As per a media report, in the past six months, 58 cases of ransom calls were registered in 14 districts. As many as three people were shot down for their failure to pay the ransom.
“Meanwhile, Nakodar-based businessman Bhupinder Singh Chawla, aka Timmy Chawla, and his gunman Mandeep Singh have been allegedly killed by some gangsters. Even police protection couldn’t save them. Isn’t the situation alarming? Or are these just some ‘minor crime incidents’ happening in some parts of the state as the CM said earlier in a statement?”, asked Bajwa.
LoP went on to say that the assembly elections results of the states namely Gujarat and Himachal demonstrated that the people of these states didn’t buy the AAP’s Punjab and Delhi model despite the fact the entire AAP cabinet of Punjab had camped in Gujarat.
“Voters of these states didn’t buy the AAP model because of the fact that in their nine months tenure the AAP failed to perform in Punjab. The AAP was attempting to create a false image through misleading adverts. Look at the law and order situation in Punjab. Gun crimes and gangsterism is at an all-time high”, said Bajwa.
LoP said that CM must act now before the law and order situation in Punjab become as worse as it is in the states like UP and Bihar.
