The equity benchmark indices started in green on Thursday’s trading session after the United States Federal Reserve indicated that the 3-year tightening cycle is coming to an end.
The 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) opened at 10,808.70 while the Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive index started at 35,997.29.
At 10:41 am, the NSE Nifty50 traded at 10823.40, up 94.55 points or 0.88%, and the BSE-30 was at 36084.94, with a gain of 367.99 points or 1.03%.
After first few minutes of trade, Sensex up surged 364.32 points, while it hit an intraday high of 36,081.27.
At the Interbank foreign exchange market, the Indian rupee strengthened to a 3-month high against the American dollar in the early trade on Thursday.
Since August 28, the partially convertible rupee was at 70.13 against the greenback after hitting its strongest level of 70.03 earlier.
Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex ended at 35,716.95, up 203.81 points or 0.57%, while the broader Nifty50 closed 43.25 points or 0.40% higher at 10,728.85.
